Lost Mobile Home Title Instructions:
If the title to your mobile home is lost, follow these steps:
VIN Inspection:
Contact your local law enforcement agency to request a VIN check. An officer will inspect the mobile home and complete a form verifying the VIN, which allows the Bureau of Motor Vehicles (BMV) to locate ownership records.
Apply for a Duplicate Title:
Take the completed VIN form to the BMV to apply for a duplicate or replacement title.
Mobile Home Permit:
You must obtain a Mobile Home Permit from the Treasurer’s Office, which confirms that all taxes on the mobile home have been paid.
Tax Payment Requirements:
Using the mobile home’s location, the Treasurer’s Office will identify the last owner on record. All outstanding property taxes—including those owed by previous owners—must be paid in full before the permit can be issued.
