Biography:
The Hon. Dakota R. VanLeeuwen has been the presiding judge of Morgan Superior Court 1 since first appointed by Governor Eric Holcomb on December 28, 2022.
Prior to the bench VanLeeuwen opened and operated her own private practice in Martinsville since 2018. Prior to that position VanLeeuwen worked for a mid-sized law firm in Indianapolis, was a Deputy Prosecutor for Marion County Prosecutor’s office in Juvenile Division and later the STRIKE Division for Gangs, Narcotics, and Firearms.
VanLeeuwen is a prior law enforcement officer with the Indiana University Police Department. ILEA Class of 2011.
VanLeeuwen has a dual bachelor’s degree from Indiana University in 2012 and a J.D. from Indiana University Maurer School of Law in 2015.
