The Auditor’s and Treasurer’s office maintain separate accounting records to ensure proper use of public funds. All claims for payment are approved by the County Commissioners, while the County Council appropriates the amount of money that can be spent by each department. The Auditor's office completes the following financial items for the county:

  • Budget Preparation for County Council
  • Preparation of County Annual Financial Report
  • Maintain fund ledgers, additional appropriations and transfers
  • Payroll for all County employees including withholding and payroll deductions, preparation of W2s, 1099s and IRS reporting
  • Employee Benefits and Personnel Files
  • Accounts Payable, auditing and processing payment of claims submitted by departments
  • Accounts Receivable for all types of revenue
