Divorce
If a married couple would like to end their marriage, they must go to the court and ask for a divorce. In Indiana this is called a dissolution of marriage. Before the court finalizes the divorce, the couple must decide how they will divide their shared assets, how parenting time will be arranged for any shared children, and several other important factors.
What are the qualifications?
- You and/or your spouse has lived in Indiana for the last six months.
- You and/or your spouse has lived in MORGAN COUNTY for at least the past three months.
- You and/or your spouse are not currently pregnant.
- Address Key Issues: The court will address child custody, child support, spousal
maintenance, and property division. If you and your spouse agree on these, your
agreement can be included in the divorce decree.
- Pay the filing fee and file the divorce packet with the Clerk's office or through E-filing.
- Wait for the Court Process: There is a minimum 60-day waiting period after filing before
the court can finalize the divorce.
